[Korea Farmers' News Agency, reporter Song Hae-chang] A technology to selectively cool strawberry crowns to advance the harvest has been developed in South Chungcheong Province. The crown is the connection point between the stem and the roots, where the plant's growth point is located. The South Chungcheong Agricultural Research and Extension Services held a "Field Evaluation Meeting on Crown Cooling Technology after Early Strawberry Planting" on the 11th at a grafted field research site in Nonsan City. The field evaluation meeting was attended by around 200 strawberry growers, research and guidance institutions, and agricultural officials, who shared the applicability and field cases. According to the Strawberry Research Institute of the South Chungcheong Agricultural Research and Extension Services, strawberry fruits flower after the flower buds differentiate in mid-September and are harvested in earnest from December. The prevailing opinion is that the earlier the shipment, the higher the price.
