The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) of Spain recently met with producer organizations to discuss the state of the sweet fruit sector following a reduced production in 2020 due to hail and decreased cultivation, despite record exports. The 2021 season is expected to see further reductions due to severe frosts in Spain, France, and Italy. The Valencian Community, however, foresees a harvest of excellent quality and without significant losses, which could lead to fair prices for all in the supply chain. The MAPA is encouraging administration coordination to manage labor flow in the sector.
