Due to the military invasion of Ukraine by Russia, agricultural activities have been impacted, with farmers in the Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine facing challenges in access to certain areas for sowing. Despite these challenges, the region has successfully sown 227 thousand hectares of winter grain for the 2022 harvest and plans to sow an additional 863 thousand hectares of spring crops. Due to difficulties in sourcing fertilizers, farmers are shifting their focus to crops that require less fertilization, such as peas, barley, wheat, millet, and sugar beets. The region is currently operating at 80% capacity for fuel, seeds, and mineral fertilizers, but weather conditions are delaying spring field work.
