"The positive balance is due to exports that totaled US$ 23.92 billion and imports that amounted to US$ 4.85 billion," said the State Secretariat of Agriculture in a statement. According to the department, exports were driven by the sugar and ethanol sector, accounting for 30.8% of the balance, or US$ 7.37 billion, with sugar being the main product, representing 92.7% of what was exported. The meat sector accounted for 15.1%, US$ 3.60 billion of the total, with beef protein being the main product (85%).
