Aloe vera cultivation in Indonesia, particularly in Pontianak, has seen significant growth since the 1990s, expanding from small-scale to large-scale operations. The industry, which produced 16,928 tons in 2020, has found success due to the plant's health benefits and suitable cultivation conditions in Pontianak's peatland. The Bentasan Farmers Group, among others, has found profit in aloe vera cultivation, harvesting 2.5 tons per month and achieving a net profit of IDR 7 million per month. The group also engages in value-added processing of aloe vera for various products and uses the plant's mucus for healing burns.
