Switzerland is expected to have a bountiful cherry harvest in 2022, with an estimated 2,548 tonnes, which is 25% higher than the five-year average and 6% higher than the average from 2018 to 2020. The primary harvest is set to begin on June 27. The Fruit-Union Switzerland (FUS) has announced that market-relevant quantities will be available from mid-June, with the three most significant harvest weeks being 26, 27, and 28. The harvest is projected to cover over 50% of the market demand. However, frost in April has affected crops in the Basel, Solothurn, and Aargau regions, but large quantities are anticipated in eastern Switzerland. The fruits are expected to be large and sweet due to favorable weather conditions in May.
