The top berry crops of the European Union have two of their own scientific projects

One project focuses on the breeding of berry crops, in which scientists identify desirable characteristics and provide them to breeding companies, the second on new methods of fruit dehydration and algae coating. The AgroXXI.ru portal has read an article by Matthew Newman published in Horizon: EU Research and Innovation Journal, which talks about bringing innovation to the berry industry: “Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are considered the “cream” of the EU berry industry, which has a significant economic impact and potential. The EU-funded BreedingValue project is conducting extensive research into breeding work to improve the sustainability and quality of these crops. In particular, the project will identify conserved and maintained germplasm of key genera suitable for sustainable berry production throughout the EU.
