The Military Emergency Unit (UME) has activated 117 personnel and 25 vehicles that will be deployed in Barcelona to contain the outbreak of African swine fever, following a request from the Generalitat. According to sources from the Government Delegation in Catalonia, the majority of the UME contingent that will be activated in this operation comes from the units of the Technological and Environmental Emergency Intervention Group (GIETMA), based in Torrejón de Ardoz, and the IV Battalion, based in Zaragoza. According to military sources, most of the personnel left early this morning from the UME headquarters in Torrejón de Ardoz and are expected to arrive in Barcelona around noon.
