Geneva, 29/12/2025 - The United States announced on Monday a pledge of $2 billion for humanitarian aid from the United Nations (UN), while the administration of American President Donald Trump continues to cut U.S. foreign assistance and warns the organization's agencies to "adapt, shrink or die" in a time of new financial realities. The pledge creates an umbrella fund from which the money will be distributed to individual agencies and priorities, a key part of the U.S. demands for drastic changes across the global body, which have alarmed many humanitarian workers and led to severe reductions in programs and services.
