The value of Spanish agri-food exports increases by 3.5% in 2023, but the volume falls

In a year marked by the difficulties caused by the decrease in production in various sectors due to drought, as well as persistent inflation, agri-food exports achieved an increase of 3.5% in value in 2023, reaching 69,608 million euros. This increase contrasts with the decrease in the volume of sales abroad, which fell by -9%, with decreases in all the main exported products: -6% in fruits and vegetables, -8% in pork, -33% in olive oil, and -2% in fish, shellfish and wines. These data are found in the Cajamar report 'Analysis of agri-food exports. Year 2023', directed by Jaime Palafox, expert in internationalization, consumer trends and agri-food sustainability, presented last Tuesday at the Alimentaria fair.
