The Mardin Plain in Turkey, which covers 3 million decares of land, is projected to produce approximately 800 thousand tons of wheat this year. The wheat is cultivated in 75% of the region, with expectations of yields between 500 and 750 kilograms per acre. Straw, previously of little value, is now being harvested and used, yielding 750 kilograms per decare. The wheat is sold in the Kızıltepe Grain Trade Center, with durum wheat at 2.9 liras per kilogram and bread wheat at 2.75 liras per kilogram. Farmers like Murat Talayhan and İbrahim Talayhan are satisfied with the current wheat prices and the good yields, especially considering the early planting necessary due to drought.
