World Egg Day is celebrated on the second Friday of October, highlighting the nutritional benefits and environmental sustainability of eggs. Müjdat Sezer, Chairman of the HasTavuk Board, emphasized that eggs are a crucial source of economical protein and essential nutrients. He pointed out that Turkey, producing 18 billion eggs annually from 100 million laying hens, consumes only about 150-160 eggs per person, with significant potential for increase. Sezer called for support for egg producers and the enhancement of corn production to bolster egg production capacity and efficiency. He stressed the importance of ensuring that egg producers can earn a profit to invest in modernization and expansion, noting the potential negative effects on the egg industry if these support structures are not in place.
