The Polish Parliamentary Agriculture Committee received an update from the Ministry of Agriculture on the state and future of horse breeding in Poland. The country's breeding programs are organized by recognized associations with support from budgetary funds. This includes subsidies for maintaining herd books and breeding values of horses, as well as prizes won at exhibitions. The ministry also highlighted the protection of genetic resources for certain horse breeds and plans to continue this support. The National Agricultural Support Centre oversees horse breeding on state-owned farms, with a total of 2,337 horses as of January 2023. The committee discussed the financial conditions of the stud farms in Janów Podlaski and Michałów, following last year's unsuccessful Arabian horses auction "Pride of Poland," and called for a national horse breeding program with clear goals and roles for both the state and private breeders.
