From the start of the first 10-day period of December, the autumn crops in most of the territory of Ukraine have finally entered a phase of shallow winter rest, experts from the Ukrainian Hydrological and Meteorological Centre announced in their regular report, referring to observations by agrometeorologists. Only in the southernmost parts of the country and in some areas of the central regions, the warm weather contributed to slow growth processes in the autumn crops. The sufficient warmth and optimal soil moisture created the best conditions for the rooting of the plants. "The minimum soil temperature at the depth of the knot of the tillering (3 centimeters) of the autumn crops and perennial grasses in most regions fell to 0-5 degrees Celsius, and in places in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions – to minus 1-2 degrees, which is significantly higher than the critical freezing temperature.
