The article highlights the efforts of Mohammad Mehdi Broumandi, the Deputy Minister of Horticulture Affairs of Iran's Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, to enhance the productivity and sustainability of the country's horticultural sector, with a particular focus on pistachio production. Despite challenges like water scarcity and climate change, Iran remains a major pistachio producer and is working on improving quality and efficiency through various strategies, including the introduction of suitable seeds, better nutrition, mechanization, and collaboration with academic and private sectors. The Ministry has also developed a new action plan and obtained a health certificate for pistachio exports to the European Union, aiming to resume exports under improved conditions. Additionally, the article outlines the Ministry's initiatives to meet domestic demand for bananas by cultivating new varieties in Sistan and Baluchistan province, with the private sector's participation, and expects to satisfy the market needs in the near future.
