The collection garden established at Bursa Uludağ University (BAÜ) Faculty of Agriculture features 120 varieties of peach and nectarine trees. Prof. Dr. Ümran Ertürk, Head of the Department of Horticultural Crops at the Faculty of Agriculture (BAÜ), said they cultivate peaches on a piece of land belonging to the faculty. Ertürk mentioned that the garden, created to prepare students for life after school and to provide varieties suitable for Bursa conditions, contains over 500 nectarine and peach trees. "We have a collection garden consisting of 120 varieties. They came from a breeding firm in Spain. We are conducting studies to test the adaptation of these varieties to Bursa conditions, so that growers can prefer and produce those that are suitable for the region," Ertürk said.
