With the arrival of December, the fresh pineapple sale becomes part of the landscape along the Misiones routes again. The fruit projects a good season, with a harvest that, depending on the productive area, begins in December and extends throughout the summer. The pineapple has its own history in the red land, as it is the province that leads national production with more than 60 hectares planted, according to data from the last National Agricultural Census (2018) and provincial records. The first plantations were developed in the town of Jardín América, on National Route 12. Over time, the cultivation was consolidated on the coast of the Uruguay River, especially in Colonia Aurora where the Provincial Pineapple Festival is celebrated every year.
