Ukraine: Potato prices will be much higher this year

Due to the war and the mass emigration of Ukrainians abroad, the market for agricultural consumption has significantly decreased this year, and, in particular, most of the potato harvest has remained unsold. As a result, many large vegetable producers in 2022 reduced the area under this crop. So in autumn, even with a good harvest, potato prices will be high. Thus, due to the mass departure of Ukrainians abroad, the number of consumers fell sharply, and therefore the demand for potatoes, which farmers have been counting on since the fall, was not. To save the harvest, they had to sell their goods at reduced prices. But this did not help to completely get rid of the excess. In this situation, they have only one way out - to hand over potatoes to processing plants that produce starch. So the farmers managed to return at least some money for their goods.
