Thailand's Batavia pineapple production is expected to decrease in 2023 due to higher costs, labor shortage, and farmers shifting to other crops. The total harvest area is forecasted to decrease by 4.36% to 430,958 rai, and production is expected to decrease by 5.17% to 1.65 million tons. Despite these challenges, the National Pineapple Policy and Development Committee has approved a plan to increase production efficiency, productivity, export value, and farmer income by 2027. The plan also focuses on modern and sustainable management, increasing production capacity, promoting industrial processing technology, and creating added value from pineapple waste.
