The Chairman of the Board of Trakya Birlik, Şafak Kırbiç, has expressed concern over the potential impact of drought on sunflower production in Thrace, which accounts for nearly 50 percent of Turkey's sunflower oil needs. Kırbic highlighted the region's low precipitation levels and lack of snowfall over the past few months as signs of a serious drought. He emphasized that the production increase depends on the precipitation received in the coming period and warned that some plants may not be able to grow due to the drought. Kırbic also noted a decrease in sunflower prices, attributing it to the potential yield loss due to the drought.
