The Fish Quarantine Agency, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM) of Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, in partnership with other stakeholders, has successfully prevented 112 quarantine and fish biological safety violations across the country in 2021, thereby preserving the value of the fish resource by an estimated Rp 192 billion. These violations were related to lobster, crab, and ornamental fish. Concurrently, the BKIPM is implementing quality control measures in 266 locations across 80 districts/cities to ensure the quality of marine and fishery products, a move that has seen these products reaching 171 of the 195 UN member countries. As of November 2021, over 3,203 fish processing units and farm businesses have been registered for export to various countries, with 343 new registrations for exports to Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Canada, and China in 2021.
