Kachin State in China has seen a resurgence of Tissue-Culture Banana plantations, with over half of the plantations re-grown since border closures due to COVID-19 in 2021. The Chairman of Kachin State's Crop Growers Association stated that there is no dispute over growing tissue bananas currently. However, the surge in commodity prices and increased taxation have led to financial struggles for general workers. The plantations are located in several townships, with about 150,000 acres of land dedicated to the cultivation of tissue-culture bananas.
