In 2022, Turkey's tomato exports experienced a 4% increase, reaching 526,703 tons and generating $377 million in revenue. The main importers were Romania, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. However, the growth was constrained by a decline in the Russian market, which used to account for around 200 million dollars in annual imports. The Turkish Greenhouse Investors and Producers Association anticipates a recovery and aims for 500 million dollars in tomato exports in 2023, attributing the setback to competition from other countries and the energy crisis.
