Mexico has become the world leader in tomato exports, with a customs value of $2.988 billion, surpassing the Netherlands and Spain. The United States is the primary market for Mexican tomatoes, accounting for 99.8% of exports. Despite an 8% decrease in production in 2023 due to drought, the sector is expected to rebound, with a forecasted increase in production to 3.30 million tons in 2024, driven by rising export demand. The Sinaloa region is the leading producer, contributing 22% of the country's total production.
