Netherlands: Tomato price recovers slightly, cucumber price continues to rise

The bell pepper price on the VBT clocks dropped further last week. On average, a kilo yielded less than 50 euro cents. The cucumber price continued to rise slightly, while the average price for loose tomatoes rose slightly. The price for vine tomatoes remained virtually the same. Below is an overview of the VBT figures for greenhouse vegetables from week 46. The average price of tomatoes has been below the five-year average in recent weeks. The price for 2022 has now found its five-year average again. The volumes supplied fell sharply. For vine tomatoes, the supplied volume is just above that of last year. The volume is lower for loose tomatoes. Last week the price for loose tomatoes rose. The price for tomatoes usually rises steadily towards Christmas. After a dip in the cucumber price in mid-October, the average price has found its way back up. An average price of 64.8 euro cents in week 46 was only achieved in 2018 since 2015.
