The Polish Soja Association reported that Poland's domestic soybean resources for the last season reached approximately 120,000 tons, with over 112,000 tons of imported seeds. The cultivation area increased to nearly 48,000 hectares in 2022, but it still fell short of meeting the demand of the country's processing plants. The demand for soybeans is high, with two-thirds of the domestic demand being covered by imported soybean meal. Despite the extension of ZUBR, which requires approximately 330,000 tons of soybeans per year, production facilities are expected to import soybeans again due to potentially low national yields. The new Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-27 will provide subsidies for soybean farmers, including income support for pulse production, eco-scheme payments for carbon farming and nutrient management, and additional basic payment up to a certain cultivation area.
