Tra Vinh province in Vietnam is facing a significant challenge as the price of desiccated coconut has plummeted, leading to low income for growers compared to other crops. As a result, many growers have shifted to selling fresh coconuts temporarily. To address this issue, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is implementing solutions, including the strategy to upgrade the coconut value chain from 2022-2025. This strategy aims to support farmers in developing coconut chains, create concentrated raw material areas, and invite businesses to cooperate with growers for stable output and increased income. The province also plans to organize at least 10 businesses to build raw material areas for processing and consuming high-value-added coconut products by 2025.
