The EU Agricultural Outlook Report for 2024-2035 predicts a shift in the bloc's fruit and vegetable trade, with imports of fresh produce like tomatoes, oranges, peaches, and nectarines expected to rise, and exports, with the exception of apples, to fall. Tomato imports are anticipated to grow annually by 0.6%, mainly from Morocco, while fresh orange imports are projected to increase by 1.5% annually. Peach and nectarine imports are expected to surge by 5% annually. However, exports of fresh tomatoes, peaches, and nectarines are forecasted to decline by 0.2% and 2.9% annually, respectively. Oranges' exports are expected to remain stable. The report also highlights an increase in apple exports due to new varieties, reaching 1.1 million tonnes in 2035, while fresh apple imports are expected to decrease by 0.9% annually.
