The Russian pork market has experienced a significant shift in recent years, with a notable increase in production and a decrease in imports, largely due to restrictions on imported products and the devaluation of the ruble. In 2020, Russia's pork production reached 4.29 million tonnes, marking an 8.9% increase from the previous year. The pork market has seen a 39% increase in the past five years and an 83.4% increase in the past ten years. Despite the cancellation of import quotas in 2020, pork imports have remained low due to the competitiveness of Russian products. Pork exports, on the other hand, have doubled in 2020 compared to the previous year, reaching 204.8 thousand tons. The export volume is expected to surpass 250,000 tonnes by the end of 2021, reflecting the expanding production and the competitive position of Russian pork in global markets.
