Turkey is a prominent agricultural nation, renowned for its diverse and productive agriculture, including the cultivation of tropical fruits. The process of tropical fruit cultivation was initiated in 1934 and has since expanded, with 42 types of tropical fruits now being grown, including imports of varieties from the United States. The West Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute plays a crucial role in this development, conducting adaptation studies and preserving the genetic resources of fruit species. Locally grown tropical fruits are renowned for their freshness and lack of preservatives, with a significant portion exported, particularly from the Antalya region.
