Tropical triticale variety created for Brazilian farmers

Demand for locally resistant winter triticale seeds is growing in several Brazilian states as expansion of the crop's acreage is planned. The AgroXXI.ru portal has read an article published in the Brazilian online agricultural publication Minutorural about the growing demand for triticale in Brazil: “Triticale is a grain crop that is the result of crossing wheat and rye. The grain is used throughout the food industry (crispening bread and biscuits and replacing chemical additives for this purpose) and as an alternative to maize in silage and animal feed. It is also a good option for soil cover, stubble in direct seeding system and crop diversification. The Institute of Rural Development of the State of Paraná has completed the development of the triticale variety Goitacá and is preparing to present it to the production sector in 2024.
