In Spain, PGI of Tudela asks the EU to sell peeled artichoke

The Regulatory Council of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Artichoke of Tudela (Navarra) has called on the European Union (EU) to extend protection to ready-to-cook artichokes that are presented peeled. The European Commission (EC) has published in the Official Gazette of the EU a request for approval of a significant modification of the specifications of the PGI Artichoke of Tudela. Its regulatory council, made up of the producers who work with this product, has explained that this introduces the option that artichokes that are marketed without a stem can be presented peeled. The modified specification also indicates that the artichokes must be packaged in such a way that they maintain their appearance and freshness characteristics until the moment of consumption.
