The article highlights the significant impact of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine on the global tuna market, with a focus on Vietnam's production and export activities. Russia and Ukraine are among the top 20 importers of Vietnamese tuna by value. The value of Vietnam's tuna exports to Russia has grown from 364 thousand USD in 2012 to over 14 million USD in 2021, and to Ukraine, it has increased from 115 thousand USD in 2012 to 6.8 million in 2021. However, the conflict has led to the return of exported orders and the halt of tuna export transactions to both countries, disrupting supply chains and potentially increasing production costs due to higher sunflower oil prices and rising fuel costs, which could result in a significant decrease in Vietnam's tuna exports in the coming months.
