Within just 9 months, Vietnam's tuna exports to Saudi Arabia have seen a dramatic increase, rising from 85,000 USD to nearly 5 million USD, making it the third largest market after the US and Canada. This growth is due to the Saudi Food and Drug Administration permitting 12 Vietnamese seafood companies to re-export products to Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, tuna exports to the Netherlands has decreased, with Germany now becoming the fifth largest single import market and the largest tuna import market of Vietnam in the EU. This surge is attributed to the restarting of preferential tariff quotas under the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EU in 2022. The US also continues to be a significant market for Vietnamese tuna, with expectations of further growth.
