Vietnam's tuna exports experienced a significant surge in May, with a 48% increase compared to the same month in the previous year, totaling $66 million. From January to May, tuna exports reached $292 million, marking a 21% increase year-over-year. The Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that 88 markets around the world showed an open market for Vietnamese tuna, with notable growth in the US and EU. The US saw a 22% increase in tuna exports, driven by vaccinations and economic stimulus, while the EU's tuna imports from Vietnam surged by 75% due to the Europe-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Additionally, exports of various tuna products, including frozen, canned, and processed, experienced growth, with the highest increase in frozen tuna at 44%. However, the demand for canned tuna has decreased due to high inventory, leading to a slowdown in the growth rate of Vietnam's canned tuna exports.
