Tunisia’s state grain agency has purchased approximately 125,000 tonnes of common wheat in an international tender held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, European traders said. The purchase was another step by Tunisia to ensure food security, given the country’s fragile economic situation and the need to import grain after a drought-related crop failure. The lowest estimated price was $255.86 per tonne, cost and freight (c&f). Other lots were sold at estimated prices of $257.42, $256.43 and $256.43 per tonne (c&f). According to traders, all five lots were likely sold by Bunge Trading House. The wheat is scheduled to be shipped between October 1 and November 20, depending on the origin of the grain. The previous tender, held on August 7, had called for the purchase of 75,000 tons of wheat, indicating an increase in imports.
