Turkey hatchery numbers in the US were down in November

In November, there was a decline in turkey egg placements, poult hatching, and poult placements, which aligns with the USDA's recent downward revision to 2023 and 2024 turkey production projections. On December 1st, there were 25.556 million turkey eggs in incubation, slightly above the November 1st total but down 4% from December 1st, 2022. Poults hatched during November were 21.549 million head, a decrease of 5% on both the month and the year, and 19.679 million poults were placed into meat production, also 5% lower than the previous month and 5% under last year. The USDA's next set of turkey production estimates is due out on January 12th.
