In 2021, Turkey's tomato and tomato product exports reached $729 million, marking a 20% increase from the previous year, and the country aims to exceed one billion dollars in exports by 2023. With an annual production of 14 million tons, Turkey is a major producer of tomatoes. The exports were predominantly fresh tomatoes, accounting for 49.7% of the total, but there was also a growing demand for derivative products. The exports experienced significant growth in 2022, with a 23% increase in January compared to the same period in 2021. Russia, Romania, and Bulgaria were the main importers of fresh tomatoes, while tomato paste was the second most exported product, with Iraq and Italy being the main importers. Turkey exported these products to 122 countries in total.
