Turkey became the largest buyer of wheat from the Russian Federation in the first half of the agricultural year

INTERFAX.RU - Turkey retained its leadership in purchases of Russian wheat in the first half of the current agricultural year (July 2023 - June 2024), despite a decrease in supplies. According to the Union of Grain Exporters, in July-December 2023, it imported 3.929 million tons of wheat from the Russian Federation. But this turned out to be 2% less than last year’s figure. In second place, just like a year ago, is Egypt, which purchased 2.952 million tons of Russian wheat. The reduction in imports on its part was more significant - by 24.7%. At the same time, supplies to Bangladesh, which closes the top 3, increased 2.4 times and reached 1.928 million tons. The top five buyers of Russian wheat also included Algeria - 1.448 million tons, which is 25.8% more than last year, and Iran - 1.063 million tons (39.8% less).
