Two new sweet potato varieties launched in Tanzania

The Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) has introduced two new sweet potato varieties, developed for cultivation in medium altitude and warm semi-arid regions. These varieties, along with new cultivation methods from Japan, are anticipated to enhance the market value of sweet potatoes, thereby improving the income stability of farmers. Additionally, the institute will teach processors a new technique for scarifying sweet potatoes, which is expected to further increase the value of the crop.
