Unión de Uniones (UdU) of Farmers and Livestock Breeders, ahead of the debate and vote on the proposed safeguard mechanism of the EU-Mercosur trade agreement, has called on all MEPs to vote against it as it seeks to be approved without amendments. Unión de Uniones, which has been against this agreement from the outset, also believes that "approving this proposal without modifications is validating conditions that are not solid, with a weak legal framework and that, in no case, reflect the sector, giving it a sense of false security." The organization believes that it is essential for the safeguard clauses to be technically capable of preventing the serious disruptions that the tariff quotas will cause and not just be a mere patch.
