Ukraine this year harvested about 22.7 million tons, however, experts note that these figures conceal quality issues, writes "ProAgro Group." Indeed, speaking at a meeting of the Trend & Hedge Club in Kyiv, the head of the Union of Flour Millers of Ukraine, Rodion Rybchinsky, emphasized: despite the increase in the share of food wheat this season, the deficit of high-quality grain with a high protein content remains a serious challenge. According to SGS (an international inspection company), the share of high-protein wheat (12.5% and above, 1st-2nd grade) in the 2025 harvest is only 6.6%, whereas five years ago it was 33.5%. Instead, wheat with protein content of 11.5-10.5% (3rd grade) now dominates: almost a third of the harvest, double last year's figure. Grade 4 wheat, which is often reduced to feed or low-grade food, accounts for about half of the production, while non-standard feed wheat accounts for 10.4% compared to 16.7% in 2024. In ...
