In 2024, the export of Ukrainian sunflower oil reached $5.12 billion, securing the country 36.8% of the global market for this product and 20.8% of Ukraine's total agricultural exports. Thus, Ukraine once again confirmed its status as the undisputed global leader in the sunflower oil segment, reports "ProAgro Group". Russia with $3.72 billion and Turkey with $1.28 billion also entered the top three sunflower oil exporters for the year. The main sales outlet for Ukrainian products remained the European Union, which accounted for 56% of exports. Significant volumes were also supplied to India (14%), Turkey (7%), Egypt, and Iraq (3% each). An important trend in 2024 was the restoration of maritime logistics. The share of sunflower oil transportation through deep-water Black Sea ports increased to 52% from only 18% in 2023.
