In 2024, Ukraine saw its best yellow peas production in three years, reaching 465 K mt, largely due to an increase in sown area. Despite this, the yield of 2.19 mt/ha was lower than the long-term average and the yield of 2023. The top pea-producing regions were Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovograd, and Kharkiv. The price of peas for 2024/25 is high due to the lifting of a 50% tax on peas imports by India and the opening of new processing facilities in Ukraine, despite the poor pea yield this year. This may encourage farmers to increase their pea acreage in 2025.
