Despite a 13.3% increase in pigs sent for slaughter in the first three quarters of 2021 in Ukraine, experts from the Association of Pig Farmers of Ukraine warn of a declining pig farming industry. The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported a 12.6% increase in the number of industrial pigs sent for slaughter, but the increase in industrial pork production is only 9.8%. In 11 of the 24 regions of Ukraine, the volume of pork slaughter exceeded its cultivation, indicating a reduction in livestock. This reduction may not be able to support the domestic supply at the level of the first half of 2021.
