Ukrainian producer does not expect high peanut yield this season

In Ukraine, the peanut yield is approximately 0.5 to 1 t/ha. Worldwide, it is 2 to 4 t/ha, EastFruit reports. These figures were given by the director of the agro-industrial department of the Agrotrade group, Oleksandr Ovsyanik, in a comment to AgroPortal.ua. He is not yet willing to say what yield Agrotrade will achieve this year. “We are currently only harvesting peanuts, and this process is stretched out over time. It begins with digging, which is mechanized. After that, the plants remain in the field and undergo a drying process. There are special machines that turn the peanuts over so that they dry evenly. Then there are combines that thresh them without breaking the beans. Since this is an experimental plot, we do not have such combines yet. Therefore, we will use manual labor.
