(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Yeong-eun = On the 14th, Ulju County held its first purchase event for 2025 public reserve rice, dry rice, at the Onyang Nonghyup Economic Business Office.
Ulju County Mayor Lee Soon-geol encouraged the farmers and purchased 55 bags of 40 kg of Po Dae rice.
The purchase period for this year's public reserve rice, dry rice, is from today until the 27th, and the purchased varieties are Yeongjin and Yeonghojinmi, totaling two varieties.
This year's purchase volume increased by 16,924 bags compared to last year. A total of 57,532 bags (32,360 bags of Po Dae rice, 25,172 bags of harvested rice), 2,301 tons, are expected to be purchased.
The schedule by town and township is as follows: 14th (Onyang, Onsan), 17th (Eonyang, Dubeok), 18th (Dubeok, Cheongryang), 19th (Eonyang, Seosang), 20th (Samnam), 21st (Samdong), 25th (Ungchon), 26th (Ungchon, Samdong), 27th (Sangbuk).
The purchase price will be settled in two stages: an interim settlement of 40,000 won per bag immediately after the purchase, considering the farming costs of the delivering farmers, and the final settlement will be determined based on the average price of mountain rice across the country from October to December and will be paid by the end of this year.
An official from Ulju County urged, "Please strictly adhere to the related procedures, such as staggered delivery by farmers, to ensure smooth rice purchases, and conduct thorough pre-education to prevent safety accidents."
