(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Yeong-eun = The Ulju Regional Rehabilitation Center in Ulju County, Ulsan, is launching a business to create desserts using the region's representative specialty, young pears.
The Ulju Regional Rehabilitation Center held an opening ceremony for the 'Mini Room Business Division' on the 18th, attended by Ulju County Mayor Lee Soon-geul and participants in the rehabilitation employment program.
The Mini Room Business Division will introduce dessert products made from Ulju County's representative specialty, young pears, aiming to increase the added value of local agricultural products and contribute to the promotion of local food consumption.
This project is being carried out by concluding a franchise agreement with the representative dessert brand 'Ulsan Sand' from Ulsan, receiving manufacturing techniques and design know-how.
It plans to present a new direction beyond simple rehabilitation business, as a local brand startup and technology transfer-type rehabilitation model.
An official from the Ulju Regional Rehabilitation Center said, "We will strengthen cooperation with farms to develop new products using specialty products, and create a Ulju-style symbiotic model where the local economy and income of rehabilitation participants circulate together."
