(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Su-yeon = One side of the indoor vacant spaces in public facilities such as libraries, welfare centers, and district offices has been transformed into a "vertical farming space" that grows European lettuces like chicory and butterhead, as well as arugula and strawberries. This is the result of the "Seoul Urban Smart Farm" project, where agriculture and technology have harmonized to make urban vacant spaces more useful, allowing citizens to experience ecological value in their daily lives. According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 29th, the establishment of 10 urban smart farms starting in 2024 has resulted in nearly 3,000 citizens experiencing this future agriculture over about two years.
