Taking heed of the saying that unity brings strength, two national firms in the Agtech universe – Calice and Puna Bio – announced a collaboration to "accelerate the development and global expansion of new biological products," created to improve soil health and enhance agricultural productivity. Puna Bio gained prominence in recent years for developing bio-inputs based on extremophile microorganisms – bacteria that have lived in extreme conditions for millions of years – extracted from the puna, from which they managed to regenerate degraded soils and increase yields by between 10% and 15%. In 2024, it was highlighted for its work in boosting crops and regenerating soils, and was recognized by the Norrsken Foundation as one of the 100 startups with the greatest potential for global impact.
